Tips For Moving During The Coronavirus

Moving is never easy. There are so many different things to juggle and tasks to complete. No wonder it’s ranked as one of the most stressful things you can do! Well, with the Coronavirus upon us, things have gotten even more complicated. While many places are closed–from restaurants to rec centers– life does go on. If you find yourself in the situation where you have to move  during the coronavirus outbreak or cold and flu season, here are a few tips to keep you healthy and safe.

The most important thing to remember is the more stress you have in your life, the more likely your immune system is going to be impacted negatively. The moving experts at Cowboy Moving & Storage in Denver, CO put together this list of tips to help you if you’re moving during the coronavirus situation, or if you’re moving while you’re sick.

  1. Give yourself time to get everything packed. Most people underestimate how long it will take. To reduce the stress of moving, it’s a good idea to have your movers pack and move you. You have enough details to worry about.

  2. Wear latex gloves and a mask as you pack and move. Remember, germs can live on surfaces for hours! Try not to touch your face. If you’re not wearing gloves, wash your hands thoroughly at least once every hour.

  3. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. If you need your movers to provide more services than you originally thought you’d need, it’s ok. Most movers are happy to help in whatever way they can. They can even unpack your possessions once to get to your new home! You can also ask friends and family members to come help you. Packing and moving is a lot for anyone to handle. Most people understand how difficult it can be if you’re sick and will be willing to pitch in.

  4. Take care of yourself. Again, give yourself plenty of time to pack so you don’t have to pull late nights getting ready for your move. Eat right and get lots of sleep so you’re not run down before your move even starts!

  5. If you have to sneeze, do so in your elbow or arm.  Wash your hands immediately.

  6. If you or a family member have a fever, have them stay in a room separate from your team of movers or friends that are helping you. Have them wear a surgical mask as well.

  7. Provide disinfectant wipes or hand sanitizer throughout your home for your family and movers to use.

  8. If you’re providing bottled water for movers, keep a Sharpie nearby so they can write their name on the bottle. You don’t want people accidently drinking out of other’s bottles or glasses.

  9. Remember we’re all in this together. By practicing good hygiene and caution, we can get the job done without sharing germs.
